Feasting Friday (Jan 24, 2020)
Intention transforms the mundane to the sacred. With intention, we can transform a meal to mana, a workout to an initiation ritual, a conversation to a divine dance; intention can transform this day into the most important day of our lives.
Intention transforms a drug into medicine. Wednesday night I used all my intention tools to transform Ketamine into God eyes. I made a playlist of the songs that most stir my higher self, I lit palo santo, I showered and changed into the outfit I wore when I drank Ayahuasca, and I knelt in front of my altar and said: "My intention is to understand more deeply how to bring the King's energy to work to help my brothers and sisters." I turned off the lights, laid down, took 12 sprays of Ketamine, and settled into the Void.
Our ego and all of its stories can be like water to the fish of our higher self. Without stillness practices, it is easy to be so embedded in our stories that we forget they are even there, like a fish forgets it's in water. Ketamine has an incredible ability to help us realize we're in the water of our stories, and it allows the higher self to take 130 steps back and look at the life it is in.
I realized a few things that night. The first and most significant is that when I take care of my consciousness, when I organize my life in a way that stills my ego, my most potent medicine to others is my presence. I can see that the function of my soul, when my ego is calm, is to help people order, stabilize, and calm their psyches. I do it effortlessly, and if I want to help those I work with, I simply need to do the things I know relax my ego.
Which brings me to the major passion project unfolding in my life. I've been dancing with David Allen's 'Getting Things Done' system every day for the last month, and I'm realizing it is the most important dragon in my life to tame. He has trojan-horsed a modern spiritual practice inside 'a personal management system.' Hidden behind the dead language of productivity verbiage is a step-by-step system for managing consciousness in the modern world in a way that allows the ego to relax, and our higher self to come forward.
His system is notoriously hard to integrate, and I can feel I'll need a few more months to get it to a point where I can teach it, but I know it will be one of the most important ideas I can teach and share in my lifetime, and I am dedicated to doing so; because each of us has a unique medicine to bring to the world when we can put down our ego's stories and simply be and live through our intuition. His system teaches this, and I know I am called to teach it too.
Song on Repeat This Week:
This is one of the songs from my Ketamine playlist that brought the deepest peace. It is also the song I listened to while I wrote this.
Thang I'm Reading This Week:
I'm slowly reading 'Getting Things Done' by David Allen. It is a hard book to integrate, and I will likely reread it the moment I am done with it. To be frank, I don't recommend it unless you have considerable time to sit with it. I will be creating a course over it that I'll release at the end of the year, and I feel that'll be a better place for most of you to start.
Quote I’m Dancing With This Week:
"People are like stained-glass windows.
They sparkle and shine
when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in,
their true beauty is revealed
only if there is a light
from with,'
-Elisabeth Kubler-Ross
"If you bring forth what is within you, what you bring forth will save you. If you do not bring forth what is within you, what you do not bring forth will destroy you."
-Jesus
"The Kingdom of Heaven is here on earth, but men do not have the eyes to see it."
-The Gospel of Thomas
My Favorite Journal Prompt This Week:
"Erick, I know you hear the call of your soul. It is no longer a whisper. You know what needs to be done. You know what needs to be said. You know the way. It is okay your ego struggles against your fate. We ask you to remember this: Be brave. Say yes. Have faith.
So today, when you hear us calling, be brave. Say yes to the call, and have faith that if you bring your love and truth to any situation, whatever happens as a result, is the Kingdom of Heaven.
